EW Privacy Policy

Who we are

Essential Woman Ltd is a UK lifestyle brand helping mums choose themselves again alongside

motherhood, through experiences, content, our website and The Essential Woman app. We are registered

with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) as a data controller. If you have any question about this

policy or your data, email us at info@essentialwoman.co.uk and we will reply.

What we collect and why

On our website: your name, email address and city when you join our newsletter or fill in a form, so we can

send you the updates you asked for. Event bookings are handled through our ticketing provider and

include the details you enter at checkout.

In The Essential Woman app: the details you choose to add to your profile (name, date of birth, city,

photos, interests, occupation and answers to profile prompts), a verification selfie which is reviewed by our

team and used only to confirm your profile is genuine, your connections and the messages you send, your

journal entries, and your event bookings. Payment card details are processed securely by Stripe and

never touch our servers.

We collect what the experience needs and nothing more. We do not sell your data, and we never will.

Your journal is yours

Journal entries are private to your account. They are not visible to other members, and our team does not

read them in the ordinary course of running the app.

The legal bases we rely on

We process your data because it is necessary to provide the services you signed up for (your account,

your bookings, your messages), because you have consented (the newsletter, which you can leave with

one click at any time), and where we have a legitimate interest in keeping our community safe (profile

verification, moderation of public posts and messages that are reported to us, and enforcement of our

community guidelines).

Who helps us look after your data

Like most modern services, we use trusted providers to run Essential Woman: Wix (our website and event

ticketing), Supabase (the app's secure database, protected by row-level security so members can only

ever access what belongs to them), Stripe (payments), and our email newsletter platform. Each processes

data only on our instructions. Some providers may process data outside the UK, where they do,

recognised safeguards such as standard contractual clauses apply.

How long we keep it

For as long as you have an account or subscription with us. If you delete your account in the app, your

profile, messages and journal are permanently removed. You can leave the newsletter at any time using

the link in any email. We may keep minimal records where the law requires it, for example ticket sales

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete

it, object to how we use it, and ask us to restrict or transfer it. Email info@essentialwoman.co.uk and we

will respond within one month. If you are ever unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can

complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk, though we would love the chance to put it right first.

Keeping you safe

Safety is designed into Essential Woman: profiles are selfie-verified by our team, community content is

actively moderated, and members can report or block anyone in a couple of taps. Data is held on secure,

access-controlled systems, and we review our practices regularly.

Children

Essential Woman is for adults. You must be 18 or over to create an account.

Changes to this policy

If we make meaningful changes, we will update this page and tell you in the app or by email. The date at

the top always shows the current version.
